Experts for Clean Development: Experts from various departments have stressed the need for promoting clean development mechanism, while deliberating upon the issue during a workshop at the Centre for Research in Rural and Industrial Development (CRRID), which has been organised in collaboration with Venture East Consulting Limited (VEC), UK. “The aim of the workshop is to bring together representatives from key stakeholders like the Government of India, research and development (R&D)institutes, environmental agencies and leading coal-fired power plants,” said Prof SS Gill, Director General, CRRID.

5th International CCT Conference: The project team successfully lead a delegation of 11 Indian government officials and representatives from major coal-fired power plants and R&D institutes that include: Ministry of Science & Technology, National Thermal Power Corporation, Central Power Research Institute, Bharat Heavy Electrical Ltd (BHEL), Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd, Central Mine Planning & Design Institute Limited (CMPDI) and Mahanadi Coal Limited (MCL) attended the Fifth International Conference on Clean Coal Technologies in Zaragoza, Spain from 8th -12th May 2011.
Promotion of a Sustained CCT Capacity India Project - VEC signed a contract with the European Commssion on 29th December 2010 to deliver the Promotion of a Sustained Clean Coal Technology Capacity Project in India. This is a 32 month insitutional capacity building and technical assistance project with an aim to promote joint efforts and strategic collaborations on EU - India cooperation on clean coal technology (CCT).
